Visi klases skolēni izlasījuši 18 grāmatas? Un vēl angļu valodā? Vai tas vispār viedierīču laikmetā ir iespējams?

Izrādās, ir gan. Šogad jūnijā noslēdzās 3-gadu patstāvīgās lasīšanas projekts “Reading Circle” (“Lasīšanas aplis”), kuru rīkoja LAVSA (Latvijas angļu valodas skolotāju asociācija) sadarbībā ar izdevniecību Pearson un kurā konkursa kārtībā līdztekus 7 citām Latvijas skolām tiesības piedalīties bija ieguvusi mūsu tolaik 6.a klase. Projekta noteikumi paredzēja, ka klase viena mācību gada laikā saņem 8 atbilstošam angļu valodas līmenim adaptētas grāmatas (15 eksemplāros), katras izlasīšanai atvēl vienu mēnesi un tad sūta grāmatu komplektu nākamajai skolai. Grāmatu tematika bija plaša – gan angļu un amerikāņu klasikas, gan mūsdienu daiļliteratūras adaptācijas, gan dabas, gan populārzinātniski apraksti. Lasījām klasē, lasījām mājās, klausījāmies ierakstus (katrai grāmatai komplektā bija arī audio versija), skatījāmies filmu fragmentus, pildījām uzdevumus gan no grāmatām, gan darba lapām, gan interneta. Diskutējām par grāmatām, par notikumiem, par atspoguļoto  laikmetu.

Aizvien pieaugošā lietotās valodas sarežģītības pakāpe nodrošināja pietiekamu izaicinājumu katram skolēnam, savukārt, individualizētais lasīšanas temps ļāva izbaudīt patiesu lasītprieku.

Toms: ‘I did enjoy the tasks but I really like to just read the book and complete tasks later or when I’ve finished reading.’

Eduards: ‘I like this new way of reading and doing tasks at the same time better because at home I don’t want to read but at school I don’t really have a choice and it helps.’

Mārcis: ‘I really like reading while doing tasks. I felt pretty calm and I understood all of the story. I would like to do it again.’

Amanda: ‘… some of the books really stood out, like the book about inventions and about the holocaust.

The book about the holocaust was just fascinating, everything was taken from an actual diary of the girl who was experiencing the holocaust. It was really touching to read it and kind of see from another person's perspective what it was like to live through it. We also had a lecture about the holocaust that helped to understand the situation better.

The book about inventions showed how everyday things were invented either by accident or intentionally. It was really interesting to see how people came to the simplest things that we use daily.

Some books I knew from movies, but a few were not heard of. I really liked that they weren't long and it was easy to understand everything.

Overall, the experience with these books was amazing and I'm glad that we have had the opportunity to read them. I hope we’ll get to continue the experience. ‘

Arī man bija liels prieks šīs Pearson grāmatas izdzīvot kopā ar skolēniem. Ceru, ka lasītprieks aicinās jauniešus atvērt jaunas un jaunas lappuses arī turpmāk!
